The piano is a challenging but rewarding instrument to play. Unlike the keyboard it only has one sound and the player creates both melody and accompaniment themself.
The keyboard is similar to the piano but an easier starting point. Keyboards use various different sounds for melodies and drum rhythms for accompaniment to create exciting and fun pieces.

The saxophone comes in a variety of sizes, most common are the alto and tenor. Sometimes a younger player may find the soprano easier to start on before moving to an larger instrument. The saxophone fingering is relatively straight foward to learn.
The clarinet is relatively easy to make a pleasant sound but the fingering is slightly more complicated that the saxophone.
The flute is relatively easy to learn fingerings but the mouth shape (embochure) is more challenging.

The trumpet and cornet are almost identical instrurments. The cornet is slightly sweeter sounding than the bright brassy trumpet. The challenge lies in the mouth shape (embochure).
The French Horn is one of the most challenging brass instruments to learn. It is more difficult to control pitch than the trumpet but has a much wider range and mellow tone.
